Carpe Diem

Do you feel like your parents are planning your life out for you? Thats how Neal feels in the film Dead Poets Society directed by Peter Weir. This movie  does'nt just deal with issues between parents and their kids, it deals with thinking for yourself and not being a mindless robot, and living everday like it's your last. The movie is about an English teacher named Mr.Keating who has a differnet approach at teaching, he teaches students how to think for themselves, and to see things from a different perspective. It's also about a group of young men, who are friends and are struggling to find their identities, thus they re-start the Dead Poets Society.
All of the parents have huge dreams for their sons, they all want them to be lawyers and doctors, after all parents want what's best for their kids right? Mr.Perry does'nt respect his son Neal's wishes for pursuing an acting career, he wants him to be a doctor. Neal ends up going behind his fathers back to act in A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare. He ends up getting the lead role, but his father wants him to quit immediately, Neal ends us standing up to his father his father lets him finish the play but does'nt want the "non-sense" to continue afterwards. In the end Neal ends up taking his own life because his dad does'nt approve of him following his dreams.
Mr.Keating teaches his students perhaps one of the most important things to learn, how to speak for yourself and have your own opinion and views. The boys are all strictly disciplined and have others peoples words and thoughts programmed into their brain. Mr.Keating does'nt go by the text book he teaches them to harness their potential and not let anything hold them back. Mr.Keating is the one that convinced Neal to talk to his dad and tell him how he really felt about acting.
Mr.Keating also teaches his students to "suck the marrow out of life". Living each day likes it's your last. A couple students take his advice and grab the bull by its horns. Neal gets into acting and Knox starts to fall in love with a girl named Chris and he wants to use the poetry that Mr.Keating taught him in attempts to whoo her. Then theres the joker Charlie, who makes his head master mad by saying a foolsh thing in a serious situation.."Hey you have a collect call, it's from God, he saies girls should be allowed in the school". He thought he'd make the most of making fun of his head master, Mr.Keating is not impressed with him saying this "I taught you to suck the marrow out of life not choke on the bone".
Mr.Keating taught his students many things, how to talk to their parents, how to think for themselves and carpe diem. All of these things you need to succeed in life to be a good person.

The greatest excuse ever why my homework was'nt done

"Well", I hastily began "it's a really long complicated story".
"Try me" replied Mr.Van Camp in a very dissatisfied tone.
"Ok so the begining I was walking home from school and my binder fell out of my bag, I did'nt realize this until I got home" I was reciting the past days events.
"Well did you go back to find it?" he replied.
     "I did" I admitted sheepishly.
"So where is it?" he asked in a an irritated voice.
"It's at home" I replied, now becoming quite nervous.
"You left your binder at home!" he shouted.
"It's for a very good reason" I tired to explain as quickly as the words would come out, I was so nervous I began to stutter "well you uh  uh s-s-see um there was this uh zombie apocolypse"
"What thats complete nonsense!" he answered in complete disbelief.
"No it's true!", I began defending my explanation "You see I was walking down the alley where my bacpack was and it was literally filled with zombies!"
Mr.Van Camp began to furrow his brows, and had that look he gets on his face when he's about to lecture you. He said "You could come up with a better lie than that" .
"It's all the truth I swear!" I yelled at him.
"Well wheres the proof of these zombies?" he questioned me. So I pulled out my phone which I had taken pictures of the living dead on. "Oh my!" he replied with a horrified look on his face.
"You see" I said "they were really thereand they happened to be near mybackpack so I could'nt get close for sometime".
"Well then how did you manage to get your bag?" he asked excitedly as if it was some great mission.
I replied back to his dissipointment "I just waited for them to leave and go eat other people, and by the time I actually got home it was too late to do my homework and I wasreally tired so I just went to bed"
"Oh" he said in a let down tone, "I guess that is a good reason your homework was'nt done, just try not to let it happen again" And that was that I went and sat down at my desk and began another English class.

Mr.Mittys Great Adventure

After Mrs. Mitty came out of the drugstore, they climbed into their automobile, Walter fastened his seat belt, turned on the windscreen wipers and carefully pulled away from the curb. As they drove out of Waterbury he noticed a pack of lions running loose. He thought to himself they must have escaped from the zoo. Mrs.Mitty started yelling and complaining about how dangerous the animals were, and how the authorities should be contacted right away. Mr.Mitty started to drift into his own world again. "Come one, come all, witness the amazing Walter Mitty and his lions!" the announcer was yelling across the arena. While Walter was pacing back and forth in his dressing room he thought to himself "what if something goes wrong this time?". He had that thought everytime before he took the stage. As he entered the dim lit arena the crowd fell silent. He was an odd site to behold, short, average looking. He did'nt look like a lion tamer. The walk towards the lions cages seemed to take forever. The great beasts were sleeping and looked peaceful. He unlocked the first cage and the other one right after. He introduced the lions to the audience, "the one on my left is Simba, the one on my right is Moofusa". Moofusa raised his giant, graceful head and yawned showing his huge gleaming teeth. Walter began to unlock Moofusa's cage, the king of beasts walked out of his cage. Simba was still peacefully asleep in his cage, he was younger than Moofusa by a couple of years. Walter went into Simba's cage and woke him up, Simba stepped out of his cage, now the two massive male lions were in the arena. The audience was in awee of theses beautiful but very deadly creatures. Walter stood up on the box in the middle of the arena and the lions followed him. He began directing them in doing tricks, they could even play fetch the audience was very entertained and kept applauding. When the final, most dangerous trick came the audience fell silent in fear, for what Walter was about to do made everyone think he was insane. He was going to put his head into Moofusas mouth! As Walter put his head in the lions huge mouth, Moofusa did'nt sit there like he usually did, this time something went wrong the jaws began to close around Walters head... "WALTER WALTER PAY ATTENTION WHEN YOUR DRIVING!!!!" his wife began to yell at him. He was glad for her interuption this time... he even did'nt want to see how that last adventure would have ended.

If I could turn back time!!!

On that dreary December night the world changed as we knew it, an amazing human being was killed, John Lennon. I would change the fact he was shot and killed, I would have intervened. In my opinion the world would be a much better place if he was still alive, he was striving for world peace. Some ignorant, twisted, lunatic "fan" named Mark David Chapman had to take his life from him on the evening of December 8th 1980, he was only 40 when he died. John Lennon was a great humanist,  he had millions of people that looked up to him. The Beatles had peace loving, anti-war lyrics which caused alot of controversy in the 60's and 70's. John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono were amazing lyracisits with a strong point they were trying to get across "world peace". People to this day are still trying to carry out his great idea of wrold peace, he would have been a great leader in carrying out these acts. Unfortunately he's no longer around it's a great sorrow.
